About Spencer’s Therapy Practice
Who We Treat
Our Fairfield, Connecticut-based therapists work in person and virtually with people experiencing a variety of diagnoses. We often work with children, teens and young adults navigating anxiety, challenges with friends or other social struggles. We also work with clients experiencing school or work difficulties, including perfectionism, underperformance and behavioral challenges.
You or your child may not have an official diagnosis—that’s okay! Our intake process includes a preliminary diagnosis. If you already have a diagnosis, we often work with clients living with social anxiety, ADHD, general anxiety, OCD, autism spectrum disorder and co-occurring diagnoses.
Our experienced therapists have worked with a variety of age groups, from children as young as 6 to adults older than 65. If you’re looking for a Spanish-speaking therapist, we offer sessions in the Spanish language as well.
As a practice, we specialize in providing therapy to children, teens and young adults (usually 6-25 years old). This means that we have had additional training in treating children and adolescents beyond the typical adult-focused training all therapists receive.
Our Therapy Style
All of our therapists use a strengths-based approach, meaning we believe in elevating our clients’ inherent strengths and teaching them how to use those strengths to overcome challenges.
We provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for our clients to explore thoughts and feelings. We have been trained in a variety of therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, parent management, motivational interviewing, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and several other techniques.
If you are curious about a specific type of therapy not listed here, please inquire—we may also have expertise in that area.
We keep a low caseload of clients
compared to other therapy practices.
Our therapists are available to families right away, and can schedule same-day sessions if necessary. We also have flexible scheduling and the ability to coordinate with schools and psychiatrists in a timely manner.
We will always respond to emails within one business day.
